Parker Releases HPC & HPX Workstations
Parker Customers Get Industrial Reliability and Performance at Light-Duty Prices
April 2005 ?Parker Automation announces the release of CTC’s HPC and HPX high-performance PowerStations. Now factory floor PC users can take advantage of the latest PC technologies in a factory-hardened workstation that is cost-competitive with “light duty?Industrial PCs. Parker’s new HPC PowerStations are available in 10? 15?and 17?panel-mount touchscreen systems, as well as a non-display version. Each has been designed and tested to perform under extreme conditions, and they run in Windows?on CompactFlash for even greater reliability.
“This product will be priced to compete with ‘light duty?industrial workstations,?said Jerry Koch, CTC’s Product Manager. “But this will be a truly factory-hardened and tested, NEMA 4/4X-rated product with the latest processor and media performance features found in the office PC marketplace.? Unlike office PCs, however, memory, product chipsets and firmware will be managed for product life cycles that support factory standardization requirements.
For users wanting the full power of a Windows-based HMI software package to accompany their Industrial PC, Parker CTC is also offering the HPX PowerStation, which comes installed with CTC’s award-winning InteractX HMI software. InteractX software runs in Windows on any office or Industrial PC. Designed specifically for machine control and OEM needs ?particularly in reliability, ease of application and reduced long-term costs of ownership ?InteractX offers the most advanced graphics of any Windows HMI product.
Both the HPC and HPX PowerStation lines feature the latest Pentium 4, 2.0 or 2.8 GHz processor technology, with up to 2.0GB of system memory and standard 64MB+ of video memory. For storage, each model includes a 40 GB hard drive, non-rotating CompactFlash for high reliability and a 24x CD-ROM or CDRW drive. Support for serial, parallel, USB, Ethernet 10/100Base-T and external video/audio is standard on all models, offering maximum connectivity and media performance.
This new PowerStation platform is also available in a non-display, or “headless?version, for applications where cable connection to a separate Industrial Monitor is advantageous. The non-display unit can be packaged with one of CTC’s 10? 12? or 15?Industrial Monitors for a “remote system?IPC solution.
